My client develops advanced Down-hole instrumentation for use in the oil and gas industry. Technologies include NMR and induction logging for both wire-line and measurement-while-drilling systems.  Challenges include design of ultra-sensitive instrumentation that survives in a high pressure, temperature, and vibration environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Credentials

  • Four year degree in EE/CMPEN/CMPSC, or related discipline
  • Fluency in .NET, C#, C/C++ and assembly language programming
  • Embedded Systems Programming
  • Complex algorithm development, data structures, numerical processing
  • Communication protocols, TCP/IP, sockets, etc.
  • Understanding of object oriented design methodologies

Major Responsibilities and Daily Job Activities

  • Windows, C#, .NET, C++ GUI software development
  • Linux, device drivers, embedded Linux
  • Embedded systems design, firmware development, acquisition systems, signal processing, communication protocols, etc.
  • Data collection, analysis, processing, and visualization
  • Working with Mechanical Engineering, Sensor Physics, and other support groups as required in completing assignments
  • Participate in design reviews, and field-test during the development phase of the programs
  • Attending technical conferences and seminars and supporting technology transfer when needed
  • Manufacturing support, or other special assignments and research projects as required

  • Digital hardware design / VHDL
  • Digital Signal and Image Processing
  • Real-time, resource constrained systems
  • Multi-physics modeling tools such as MATLAB, COMSOL, ANSYS, Spice
